Gadwal: Inspecting various developmental works in Gadwal town on Monday, District Collector Sruthi Ojha expressed her displeasure over garbage being dumped on roads in the town and directed the Municipal Commissioner of Gadwal, K Narasimha, to take immediate measures to remove all the garbage dumps from roads and dispose it at dumping yards.

The Collector sought to know why they were not directing the municipal staff to shift the garbage collected daily to the dumping yards. Adding that dumping of garbage by municipal authorities in open places would not be tolerated anymore, she said officials and workers responsible would be taken to task for dereliction of duties.

Earlier, the District Collector along with the Municipal Commissioner and Town Planning officials visited the Old Gonepad dumping yard besides inspecting a place for setting up a new nursery to be developed by the Gadwal municipality. "We have directed the municipal authorities to shift all the garbage collected daily to dumping yards and not to dump it anywhere else. We have also directed the concerned officials to send proposals for the construction of a compound wall and a shed, where in it can be used for segregation of dry and wet garbage," informed the Collector.

She later inspected the Krishna water treatment plant at Berelli Road and enquired with the officials about its functioning and maintenance. She also directed the town planning officials to take steps to set up a public park in the government land available near the second railway gate near Berelli rail road junction in the district.
