Ganesh fete spurs wave of nationalism: Vinay Bhaskar
Hanamkonda: Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the most resplendent festivals celebrated in the country, serves as a dais to promote goodwill, friendship and unity among the people,Government Chief Whip D Vinay Bhaskar said.
The Chief Whip, who inspected nimajjanam (immersion) arrangements at Padmakshi Gundam in Hanamkonda and Bandham Cheruvu in Kazipet on Tuesday, elicited information about the measures being taken for the peaceful conduct of the ritual.
"Ganesh Chaturthi unites people and it enables us to sustain harmony and amity. The festival also promotes culture and nationalism. Since the times of British rule, the festival served as a meeting place for common people of all castes and communities," Vinay said. It's important to note that Ganesh idols made of other than eco-friendly material are bound to pollute the water bodies, he said.
Stating that the campaign for use of clay made idols has gained prominence, Vinay expressed hope that people would use eco-friendly idols 100 per cent from next year. He told the officials to be vigilant during the immersion of idols.
Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) chairman Marri Yadava Reddy, Greater Warangal Municipal Commissioner N Ravi Kiran, RDO K Venkat Reddy, Transco SE Chouhan, R&B EE L Rajam, ACPs Kishan and Narsinga Rao were among others present.
