Geotagging row: Doctors urge Eatala to intervene

Hyderabad: Health Minister Eatala Rajender is understood to have given assurance to doctors that 'Geotagging' for monitoring of daily attendance would not be taken up in Ayush department.

According to Dr Lalu Prasad Rathod of Telangana Government Doctors Association, the Minister told the doctors that he will give instructions to Ayush Director on Monday morning to not implement it in view of strong opposition from the doctors fraternity.

Doctors from different wings of the health department took this issue to the notice of Health Minister when he came to attend a programme at CESS, Begumpet premises on Sunday. They submitted a representation to the Minister seeking his intervention and to stop the new method, which they say would lead to breach of their privacy.

Speculations are doing rounds that senior officials in Ayush have decided to implement this Geotagging system from September 1 onwards across the State to keep a tab on doctors and staff movements during office hours.
