Warangal: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay said Chief Minister and TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao who demanded official celebration of Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 during the Statehood Movement has been feigning ignorance after coming to power.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, he said the TRS which time and again tried to gain political mileage by instigating the sentiments of people during the then Congress government is now maintaining a stoic silence about official celebrations of Telangana Liberation Day.

"K Chandrashekar Rao is no different from the Congress as he was also trying to appease the Muslim community, this at the cost of majority of people's sentiments," he said.

Come what may, the BJP would hoist the national flag on September 17 at all government offices, Sanjay said, expressing confidence that they would amass people's support in this regard. "KCR embraced leaders those who opposed separate Telangana and gave them prominent posts while ignoring those who strived hard in the separate Statehood movement," he said.

He said that the TRS leaders have no guts to respond to the demand for official celebration of Telangana Liberation Day. Instead of trying to brand the BJP as anti-Muslim, the TRS leaders should come forward to celebrate Liberation Day on September 17, he added. The BJP will expose the double standards of TRS government, he added.

He said the BJP has plans to conduct week-long programmes in the run up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on September 17. As part of the programmes, the party would conduct special medical camps and blood donation camps, besides organising awareness programmes against use of plastic, need for Swachh Bharat, he said.

BJP State vice president Marthineni Dharma Rao and Warangal Urban District president Rao Padma Reddy were among others present.
