GHMC Mayor inspects Rendering Plant at Chengicherla
Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Dr. Bonthu Rammohan, along with MLC Mohammed Saleem, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar and Zonal Commissioner Upender Reddy visited and inspected the rendering plant in Modern Slaughter House at Chengicherla here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the Rendering Plant has been built with the estimated cost of Rs. 1917.99 lakhs. Of this, the Government of India's grant was Rs. 686.10 lakhs and 2.86 acres of land were allotted by Animal Husbandry Department.
The animal waste generated from the slaughterhouses, from Amberpet, New Bhoiguda and Ramnaspur apart from Chicken and Mutton Shops is transported to the rendering plant. The animal waste is processed and converted into by-products and used as feed in aquaculture and poultry farm and also used in soap manufacturing units, industries and in lubricants. The capacity of the plant is 80 MT per day. With the rendering plant becoming functional, the throwing of animal waste in open spaces and in nalas will be controlled as well as pollution, the Mayor said.
Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. P. Venkateshwer Reddy, S.E. Venkatramana and Guotham Reddy of Ramky Group and others participated in the visit.
