GHMC officials inspect animal welfare centres
Hyderabad: Sleuths of the GHMC Vigilance and Enforcement wing undertook simultaneous searches of five animal welfare centres being run by the veterinary department at Kukatpally, Amberpet, Jeedimetla, L B Nagar and Chudi Bazar here on Friday.
The action by five teams follows media reports on the increasing menace of street dogs and to assess the functioning of the department, in accordance with the orders of GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore. Speaking to the media, Vishwajith Kampati, Director, Enforcement and Vigilance, said that the members of the teams sought details on operations carried out against street dogs, running of shelters/ACs, size of structures where street dogs are kept, cleanliness of the centres, quality of food given to animals, etc. He said a report on the searches would be submitted to the GHMC Commissioner soon.
