GHMC to take up 360 degree sanitation works in all 150 wards

Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Dr. Bonthu Rammohan said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) proposes to take up 360-degree sanitation works in all 150 wards in the coming days and appealed to the citizens, residential welfare associations, SHPs NGOs to participate in making the programme a huge success.

Addressing the representatives of the RWS and Basti Committees, the Mayor said that though sanitation works were going on daily basis, the GHMC was planning to organize special drive all-round sanitation works in all 150 wards by deploying 50 % staff from Engineering wing, Town planning, Entomology, urban Biodiversity, veterinary, UCD and Enforcement wings.

The special drive will be conducted for 2-3 days in each ward and take up the works like cleaning main Roads, filling of potholes, lifting of debris, C&D waste, removal of bushes in open places, removing of solid waste material from manholes, drains and nalas. Works like removing plastic covers, replacing of manhole covers, repair of sewerage lines, removing debris at transformers, repair of footpaths, dividers and painting of central medians will be taken up.

Erecting signboards for dumping of garbage points and non- dumping garbage points. Inspection on the maintenance of hygienic conditions at roadside eatable points, tiffin centres, hotels, fast food centres etc. painting of dumper bins will also be taken up.

The Entomology wing will take up fogging and anti larva operations and the street dog menace will also be addressed. Toilets in Petrol bunks and restaurants will be checked and signboards on the location of toilets will be ensured. Two bins for the collection of wet and dry garbage in business establishments will be made mandatory.
