Hyderabad: The six-hour long meeting between the Chief Ministers of the two states ended with an agreement that both the Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana should pursue "give-and-take" policy and resolve all the inter- state issues amicably.

According to Telangana CMO, both the Chief Ministers on a priority basis, unanimously resolved to supply Godavari water to Krishna basin (ayacut) as the availability of water in Krishna was depleting every year.

"Availability of water in Krishna is not uniform through out the year. On several occasions there is no availability of water from Krishna.

Due to this, farmers in the Rayalaseema region in AP, Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda districts in Telangana are incurring losses. Crops are not getting the required water.

Hence, it will be a wise move if water from Godavari is diverted to the Krishna basin," they felt.

If interlinking of both the rivers was done then farmers from Rayalaseema in AP, Palamur and Nalgonda will get water to their farms.

While utilising the Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam projects, Godavari water should be diverted to the Krishna ayacut. Water from Godavari can be diverted with less expenditure and time, both the CMs felt.

The two CMs also decided to discuss in depth on questions like from where water from Godavari should be diverted to where? How this model should be? And other related issues in their next meeting.

They have also decided to solve all the issues under the Schedule IX and X as early as possible. "There are unnecessary issues on Schedule IX and X under the Bifurcation Act. We have to solve the issues.

It is not difficult to solve them with mutual cooperation and with proper awareness," the CMs observed. From the meeting both the CMs talked to their respective Chief Secretaries and asked the officials to hold a meeting to find solution to these pending issues.

Initially, Jagan was accompanied by YSR Congress party MPs Vijaysai Reddy, Mithun Reddy and Prabhakar Reddy, and KCR was accompanied by Minister KT Rama Rao and Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar.

But after lunch, both the CMs are said to have had one-on-one meeting during which they discussed many political issues.

The AP government's proposal to have three capitals, ongoing agitation by farmers of Amaravati, the opposition's role in the agitation, BJP opposing shifting of capital city are also said to have figured during the meeting.

Both KTR and Jagan attracted the leaders present at Pragati Bhavan since both were dressed in same colour trouser and shirt.
