Give recognition to psychologists, Dr Atla urges to Centre in Karimnagar
Karimnagar: Psychologist Dr Atla Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday urged the central government to take initiation for passage of the 'Mental Health Care Professional Bill' and to give recognition to psychologists in the country.
In a letter written to Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Dr Atla Srinivas Reddy said that there is no system of issuing of license to the psychologist and recognition for psychologists in the country.
If the bill is passed in the Upper House, the psychologists are going to get recognition who are rendering medical services by treating the persons suffering with mental illness under the Allied Health Care Professional Act-2018, he informed.
Moreover, the government will allot separate budget for this sector and prevention of mental illness will become the right of every person. Through this bill, as many as 53 members of medical experts are going to get recognition as psychologists.
About 9 lakh of allied healthcare professionals will get recognition through this act. As the Parliament sessions in extended to 15 more days, the government must take initiation for passage of the 15 bills which are pending, urged the Dr Atla Srinivas Reddy.
