Hyderabad: Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has urged people to go back to roots and rediscover the holistic lifestyle in order to be in the best of the health.

She said that it is high time that we rediscover our rich, heritage, culture and food habits to be in sync with nature and protect ourselves and our planet. "Even being a qualified allopathic doctor by profession, I go to my kitchen to seek remedies for small ailments. There are so many herbs and plants that supplement the modern medicine. We need to rediscover our glorious past," she added.

Participating as the chief guest in a web- interactive session jointly organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Isha Foundation on the topic of "Vision for holistic lifestyle and natural consumption for future of India and planet," she recounted that her grandmother used to insist on washing of hands and legs before entering into the house and these things are now proving highly relevant in the COVID-19 situation.

"It is better to get modernised but not westernised. We are just counting our currency and not bothered to count the calories. Balance in life is more important than the balance in bank. If the balance in life is good, automatically the balance in bank will also improve," she said. She lauded the unrelenting efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi due to which United Nations has declared the June 21st as the International Yoga Day.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Isha Foundation for their efforts in promoting holistic lifestyle and natural consumption.
