Go organic this Holi!

Hyderabad: There is a growing awareness on the use of eco-friendly colours.

In the last few years, there have been several stores that have come up and there are a few that have been selling organic colours for years.

Sri Deep Brothers

This is a shop where the eco-friendly colours are sold during Holi festival.

They have been into this business for 15 years now but started selling eco-friendly colors for the past 4 years.

They use the colours of a brand named Tota which they import from Uttar Pradesh.

The owner's son Chetan Agarwal says, "They sell both organic and herbal colours whereas there are people who are not really aware of the hazards of artificial colours and the benefits of eco-friendly colours, but he saw the demand for eco-friendly colors going up every year."

Miyapur stationery PPS

This shop at Block 3, RBR complex, Miyapur sell eco-friendly colours of Rangeels brand which is a herbal colour.

They sell 4 different colours for 110 rupees.

The owner, Venkateshwarlu, says, "We have been selling these herbal colours for 7 years and we only see the demand for these colours rising with awareness among people rising."

Balaji Rangoli Colours

This is another shop in Begum Bazar (Beside Swastic Mirchi Stores, Begum Bazar. Contact no. 7702777708), they as well sell eco friendly colors in the city for almost 40 years fir now.

They use the colors of Vasu company which they impost from Kolkata as well as Kerala.

The owner Panduranga Rao says that "He had been selling these colors since a very long time and had seen people becoming more aware of the eco-friendly colours and there was time when we had ups and downs in our business but now I see people asking for herbal colors than the artificial colors."

When asked, a customer said that, "We used to buy the artificial colors before 2 years but since we got to know about the hazards of the artificial colors we have switched to the eco-friendly colours."
