Godavari waters reach Suryapet through SRSP canals
Athmakur (S) (Suryapet): Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy described Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao the most committed leader in the country for people's welfare and added that shifting of Godavari waters to Suryapet district through Sriram Sagar canals was best example for his dedication in keeping the promises.
On Thursday, Jagadish Reddy along with farmers and people's representatives performed a puja to Godavari waters coming from SRSP canals through Kaleshwaram project at L22 canal at Nemmikal village of Athmakur (S) mandal in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the rulers of united Andhra Pradesh have dug canals for votes and commissions and had insulted farmers in the name of tail end lands. Whereas, the present TRS government has been giving first priority to tail end farmers and providing irrigation facility to them on par with other ayacut farmers.
He advised the farmers to bring their water issues to his notice for necessary action and suggested local people's representatives to take responsibility in filling the ponds in their jurisdiction.
The Minister also informed that being the son of a farmer, he was happy to keep his promise of bringing Godavari waters to Suryapet before Diwali festival and added that Godavari water flows in SRSP canals was a slap on the face of leaders of opposition parties who mocked the Kaleshwaram project. He thanked all who attended the programme.
