Government committed to welfare of poor: Chief Whip Vinay
Warangal: Chief Whip D Vinay Bhaskar advised locals to make use of welfare schemes initiated by the State government. He was taking part in the 'Civil Rights Day' organised at Peddammagadda on Wednesday. Referring to the Rs 9 crore development works taken up in the colony, he urged the residents to cooperate with the administration. "Around 90 dalit families who responded to the administration's call gave away their residences for the road widening. These displaced would be provided with houses soon," he said.
Stating that the administration was trying to make Warangal a plastic-free city, he urged the residents to cooperate. He said that so far, the authorities have collected Rs 13 lakh penalty from those traders who infringed the ban on plastics. Referring to the land dispute surrounding road widening, community hall and graveyard, the Chief Whip expressed hope that it will be resolved in a fortnight.
"Since the formation of Telangana, the distressed people were able to benefit by welfare schemes initiated by the government," Vinay said, stating that previous governments had failed to do so. He directed the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) officials to constitute exclusive self-help groups for widows on the occasion of World Savings Day (October 30). Speaking on the occasion, SC, ST Commission member Chilakamarthi Narasimha directed the police to file cases if anyone discriminates dalits in the name of caste. "The government is committed for the upliftment of the dalits," he said. Further he urged the SC and STs to focus on academics.
