Governor holds meeting with top officials on Dengue

Hyderabad: Governor of Telangana Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday held a meeting with the top officials to discuss measures to control Dengue.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including ICMR Director-General Prof. Dr. Balram Bhargava, Secretary to Governor K.Surendra Mohan, IPM Director Dr. K. Shankar, Additional Director Malaria R. Amar Sing, Deputy Director Malaria Nagaiah and Consultant Saidulu.

Following issues were discussed in the meeting: To reduce Mortality in Dengue cases in State by establishing a model unit of ICMR at GHMC/in Medical Institutions to tackle the epidemic by help of ICMR, Delhi; To identify one Nodal Officer from Telangana to coordinate with the ICMR, Director in future for establishment ICMR in Telangana with support of Telangana Government.

It was also discussed to promote Research and vaccine development and treatment, reduction in source of mosquito breed and creation of awareness to public and Medical fraternity in Telangana State; Srilankan model, which helped to curtail mortality due to dengue will be explored in Hyderabad, with the help of ICMR on experiment basis and to modify genetics in mosquito so that mosquito will kill the virus by biological control.
