Governor Soundararajan urged by Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy to examine irregularities in Kaleshwaram
Hyderabad: Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy on Saturday urged Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to examine the irregularities in the Kaleswaram project and to initiate action on those who indulged in them.
Addressing a letter to the Governor, the MLC said that thousands of crores of rupees worth of works have been entrusted to a work agency flouting the rules. The works have been given on nomination basis notwithstanding the established procedure.
He said that the government has taken up lifting of one TMC more water from Medigadda barrage and this work would cost the exchequer around Rs 5,000 crores.
The government has been availing a loan of Rs 4,657 crores from the Rural Electrification Corporation.
The work has been given to the existing work agency on nomination basis. In the beginning the government has proposed lifting of two TMC of water from Medigadda and entrusted the works to an agency.
The government changed the proposals and now proposing to lift one TMC more. The works of the additional works have been given to the existing agency without calling for tenders.
