Hyderabad: Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday stressed on the need for protecting the Constitutional values of equality, liberty and freedom to speak and express.

To mark the 70th anniversary of India's Constitution, the Governor addressed a gathering at Raj Bhavan.

It was attended by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, cabinet Ministers, Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Legislative Council chairman G Sukhender Reddy.

The Governor showered praises on Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, for uplift of the poor and lower classes through the constitution.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said the governments at Centre and States have to do more for the people and society.

"So far, we have done a little and have to do much more with commitment to people's aspirations in future for welfare and development," he said.

The Chief Minister extended thanks to the Governor for the programme to follow Ambedkar's ideology in developing all sectors.
