The three-phase local body (ZPTC and MPTC) elections are concluded on Tuesday. And the results will be announced on May 27.

The Telangana government had reorganised the district but hadn't divided the ZP & Mandal Parishads. Due to the existence of the governing body, there was no division in the same year, i.e., 2015. The term of ZPP and MPP chairmen will come to end by July 6 this year.

The panchayat raj system will be reorganised and new ZP and Mandal Parishad offices establishment and staff divisions are likely to take about one month to complete. Karimnagar zilla parishad has been divided into four parts - Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jagtial and Rajanna Sircilla. Apart from this some mandals in the northeast Karimnagar (Mahadevpur area) were merged with Jayashankar Bhupalpally district while some mandals (Kamalapur and Bhemadevarapalli) of southeast Karimnagar were merged with Warangal Urban district.

Bejjanki mandal was united in Siddipet district.

The number of mandals in the old district was increased from 57 to 72. Their division was not possible with the existing governing council. Some of the officers and staff of ZP Karimnagar were sent to their respective districts for Peddapalli, Sircilla and Jagtial.

The zilla parishad general body meeting will be held on Thursday (May 16) and a resolution will be taken to form new mandal parishad and zilla parishad.

Staff distribution is a big task and troublesome with acute

shortage. Old Karimnagar with 57 mandals is itself defunct with

only 44 Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) and 130 subordinates out of the total 228. Of the total 14 driver posts, only one is appointed.

Five senior assistant and five typist posts are vacant.

The 57 mandals are now divided into 72, making the staff distribution a big challenge to the officials concerned. Even the ZP office at Karimnagar has insufficient employees and they have to be adjusted in the new ZP offices in Sircilla, Peddapalli and Jagtial.
