Grow forests with Miyawaki method: Karimnagar Police Commissioner

Karimnagar: The police department will strive to grow and develop forests using Miyawaki method in which more trees will be grown in limited place, stated Police Commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy. Miyawaki is a Japanese technique of growing dense plantations in a short time. The Commissioner participated in Haritha Haram programme in the premises of Karimnagar II Town police station on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Police Commissioner said there are scanty rainfall due to depletion of forests. If the same condition continues, there will be nothing in future and the future generations has to face lot of problems. People should watch the video in which former President late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam explained about the effects that took place with the depletion of forests, clearly through power point presentation, he advised.

Japan scientist Miyawaki found a new method to grow forests in a limited place. As per this method a forest can be grown in just 300 yards, he informed.

The police personnel are actively participating in the green initiative Haritha Haram. In one acre of land present in the City Police Training Centre, the cops started plantation drive with a target to plant 12,000 saplings and would be completed very soon, Kamalasan Reddy said.

Later, City Municipal Commissioner Venugopal Reddy said the people should seriously plant several numbers of saplings and also must protect them till they grow up to increase 33 per cent green cover. Additional DCP (L&O) SSrinivas, ACP P Ashok, Inspector Deva Reddy, Deputy Forest Range Officer G Padma and Beat Officer Vinod were present along with others.
