Gutka worth 2.52 lakhs seized in Mancherial

Mancherial: Police seized banned gutka and tobacco packets worth Rs 2.52 lakhs at Gouthami Nagar in Mancherial town on Wednesday.

Following the orders of Ramagundam Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana, task force inspector Kumara Swamy and Mancherial town sub-inspector Maruthi along with others raided Venishetti Shankaraiah's house in Gouthami Nagar and found out banned gutka and tobacco products packed in gunny bags.

This included 1,200 Vimal pan masala packets, 100 RMD packets, 50 packets of Amber tobacco, 120 Baba boxes and 20 Vimal pan masala big boxes.

When questioned, the house owner said that he used to buy gutka, tobacco products from unidentified persons of Karnataka Sate and sell it here at a high price. A case was registered against the house owner and investigation is on.
