Gutka worth 7 lakh seized in Adilabad
Adilabad: Task Force police had seized banned gutka packets worth Rs 7 lakh, Rural Inspector Pradeep Kumar stated at a press meet at rural police station in Adilabad on Wednesday.
He said that following the orders of Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrier, Task Force officials along with rural police conducted search operation at a godown at Indiramma Colony in Kachkanti village in Adilabad rural mandal in the late hours of Tuesday and found banned gutka packets. They arrested Mohammed Akram, resident of Bhukapur Colony in Adilabad town. Informing that Akram is a professional offender and was involved in two gutka cases, Pradeep Kumar warned professional offenders of taking serious action if they continue their illegal activities. He said that chewing tobacco or gutka is harmful and can cause life-threatening diseases like cancer.
Task Force Inspector M Rajkumar said that they have seized 4,000 litres of substandard sweet oil recently and arrested 103 persons for gambling and seized more than Rs 4 lakhs and arrested 76 matkha operators and seized Rs 2 lakhs. In a recent attack on prostitution house, they have arrested four persons. He warned all illegal businesses operators not to continue their illegal businesses or else PD Act will be imposed on them. The seized gutka packets were shifted to Rural police station. A case was registered and investigation is on.
