GWMC focuses on collection of Taxes on vacant lands in Warangal district

Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) to go tough on landowners who fail to pay vacant land tax (VLT).

Warangal: The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) to go tough on landowners who fail to pay vacant land tax (VLT). According to the Municipal Commissioner Pamela Satpathy, the authorities have so far collected 54 per cent of the VLT in the GWMC limits.

She directed the officials to collect cent per cent by the end of May. "The plots of defaulters would be marked red and signboards would be put up by the civic body to take the possession of the said plot," Pamela Satpathy said.

Referring to the property tax and water cess, she said that they have achieved 81 per cent and 60 per cent target for the 2019-20 financial year. Stating that the dues amount to the tune of Rs 14 crore, she instructed the officials to speed up the collection.
