Hanamkonda : Call to say no to plastics
Hanamkonda (Warangal-U): In a bid to bring environmental awareness among the masses, the TRSV, a student wing of TRS party, took out a rally in the city with a slogan – Go Green Say No To Plastics – on Friday. Warangal urban district Grandhalaya Samstha president Md Azeez Khan who flagged off the rally at Markaji High School heaped praise on TRSV for organising programmes for the societal good.
"It's high time to reduce the impact of plastics on the environment by raising awareness among the people. Plastic pollution is one of the most threatening environmental problems the world is facing. Plastics take hundreds of years to disappear as it was not made of a biodegradable material. Use of single-use plastic is a massive challenge," Khan said. Further, he appealed to people to avoid the use of single-use plastic.
He stated that there is an imperative need for inculcating awareness about the ill-effects of plastics among the children. He said that children must be aware of the environmental effects of their activities so that they can drive the society towards pollution free environment.
The TRSV's initiative which coincides with the birthday celebration of Government Chief Whip D Vinay Bhaskar on Friday indicates the involvement of the student wings in the campaign of plastic free city.
Greater Warangal Corporators Miryalkar Devender and Boda Dinna urged people to participate in the campaign for avoiding plastics. On the occasion, Kakatiya Urban Development Authority Director Chirra Raju Goud distributed prizes to the students who excelled in the essay writing competition on environmental issues. Leaders Chennam Madhu, Aroori Ranjith, B Prashanth, L Rajagopal Reddy, Amma Venu and students of Markaji High School were among others participated in the rally that culminated at Hanamkonda Chowrasta.
