Hanamkonda: Yoga, a stress-buster
Hanamkonda: Keep fit with yoga, Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao said, speaking at the fifth International Yoga Day at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here on Friday. "Yoga is a discipline that withstood the test of time. It leads to a healthy lifestyle as it can reduce stress," he said, expounding the importance of practising yoga every day.
He said that yoga also provides relief to the mind by wiping out unnecessary thoughts from the mind, hence, people need to allocate some time for practising yoga every day. Even though it's an ancient form of fitness regime, yoga is very much relevant even today, the Mayor said.
Warangal West MLA D Vinay Bhaskar said that yoga is India's ft to the world. "The world is now realising the value of yoga," he said, stating that it's a cost-effective way to maintain one's health. Yoga also connects the mind and the body so that to attain inner peace, he added.
He also heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing Yoga Day world across. Yoga protocol convener Dr Srivani and yoga lovers participated in the programme.
Former MLA M Dharma Rao, corporator Vemula Srinivas, Ayush nodal officer Dr B Laxminarayana, Ananta Laxmi Ayurvedic College principal Dr Durgabai and superintendent Dr C Vijayapal Reddy were among others present. Similar programmes were conducted all across the erstwhile Warangal district.
