Harish imposes Rs 50 lakh fine on himself for 4-hour delay

Hyderabad: Setting an example of sorts for delay, Finance Minister T Harish Rao has fined himself of Rs 50 lakh. It all happened at Dubbaka where he was attending a programme of distribution of loans to women under Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA).

Accompanied by MLA S Ramalinga Reddy, the minister reached the spot at 3.30 pm instead of scheduled 11.30 am. On noticing the women, who were still waiting patiently, Harish Rao tendered an apology to them and announced to build a building for women by spending Rs 50 lakh.

He immediately rang up ENC Krishna Rao and directed him to release funds for the building to be constructed for women. Later, the minister distributed loans and dustbins among beneficiaries on the occasion.
