Harish Rao to attend Finance Ministers meeting in Delhi
Hyderabad: State Finance Minister T Harish Rao will take part in the finance ministers' meeting to be held on March 13 at New Delhi to present the view of Telangana on the issue of how the State FRBMs can be aligned with the Central FRBM (Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management) legislation, among others.
According to a statement released here on Saturday, Chairman of the 15th Finance Commission, N K Singh has sent a letter to Rao, inviting him to the meeting.
In his letter, Singh said that the Commission is working "earnestly to complete the task of recommending fiscal transfer for the extended award period of 2021-22 to 2025-26, as part of preparing the second report for the said five-year period.
Singh said that the meeting is arranged a day ahead of the meeting of the ensuing GST Council meet scheduled on March 14, to engage the States to ascertain their views and to discuss on how the State FRBMs can be aligned with the Central FRBM legislation and also determine the priority of the state-specific grant proposals that have been submitted by the State governments to the Centre.
That apart, the commission also sought additional inputs from the State on its approach to the issues related to fiscal federalism.
