Warangal: HDFC gives financial help to mountaineer Akhil

Warangal: Warangal Urban District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil on Thursday urged the people to help those youth undertake adventurous sports.

He gave a cheque for Rs 22,000 to 20-year-old mountaineer Rasamalla Akhil of Kishanpura in Hanamkonda who was chosen to climb the 6,153-meter Stok Kangri, the highest mountain in the Stok Range of the Himalayas. The HDFC Bank released the funds under their corporate social responsibility.

Akhil and another youth from Telangana are among 21 mountaineers who are scheduled to trek Stok Kangri from August 5 to 15.

G Mallikarjuna of Nagarkurnool is also selected from Telangana. Patil asked Akhil to hoist the Kakatiya thoranam along with the national flag when he reaches the summit.
