Health sector equally important as economy: Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender

Hyderabad: Health Minister Eatala Rajender wanted importance to be given to health sector as much as focus was being shown on economic policies.

"No doubt economy is growing, but simultaneously BP and Sugar levels of individuals are increasing beyond normal levels," he said.

Eatala was speaking at an awareness workshop on respiratory diseases held here on Saturday. Earlier, the poor used to eat Jowar roti and others best rice in the market. But the situation has reversed right now with all families showing interest in eating Jowar diet only.

Previously cultivation was done only in organic method, but presently organic farming has gone down considerably. However, people are not hesitating to spend more on buying organic products that are comparatively costlier, he said.

He pointed out the serious pollution levels in New Delhi where schools are being given holidays to save children from getting affected with health ailments. He said the need of the hour is creating awareness on protecting environment thus combating pollution.

He pointed out that three flagship programmes of Telangana government including Haritha Haram, Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya which are helping in restoring ecological balance.
