Heatwave claims three lives in Karimnagar
Karimnagar: As many as three persons died of sunstroke in the first week of May as severe heat wave conditions prevail in the district and maximum temperature is hovering above 46 degree Celsius.
However, the general view is that close to 30 people have died in recent times due to suntroke.
First death due to sunstroke was reported on March 11 when Borra Komuraiah of Thimmapoor had expired.
From March till the first week of May, the District Public Health Department has recorded these deaths as adverse news was published in daily news papers, medical committee did not confirmed sunstroke cases in different parts of the Karimnagar .
However, From March till the first week of May as per PHC and District hospital OP, it has recorded 256 sunstroke cases in different parts of Karmnagar . According to the data provided by credible inputs, out of 256 cases around 107 cases were reported from Huzurabad. Besides, 99 cases were reported from Mankondoor, 38 from Choppadandi , whereas Jammikunta and Kottapalli reported six cases each. Increase in the temperature and overheating of the body is the main cause of the sunstroke. As per the State surveillance officer, precautionary advisory have been sent to the State health centers and hospitals in the affected districts of Karimnagar.
Dr , Vaddaboina Laxman, general physician, Samatha Nursing Home, retired District Hospital Superintendent said, "On an average we get about one to two cases daily. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures along with dehydration could lead to a heat stroke. People come with complaints of dizziness and vomiting. It is advisable that people stay hydrated."
Heat waves warning between May 11 -14 has been issued in different districts of the State such as old Karimnagar, Ramgundam, Peddapalli, Dharmapur, Jagityal, Korutla, Mettpalli, Sircilla, Vemulawada, Husnabad, Huzurabad, sulthanabad, Manthani, Godhavarikhani.
