Heavy rains wash away makeshift bridge
Kamareddy: Transport to Maharashtra and Karnataka come to a halt as the temporary bridge at Pedda Devayada village in Bichkunda mandal in the district was again washed away on Monday.
According to sources, Pedda Dayavada (Vagu) stream flooded the surrounding villages along with Bichkunda mandal headquarters on Monday morning.
Recently, the temporary bridge had collapsed due to heavy rains, and authorities had repaired it but was swept away once again due to heavy rains on Monday morning.
This resulted in the complete halt of transportation between Banswada and Bichkunda mandals. The bridge also linked the State to the States of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
To reach the States of Maharashtra and Karnataka, one has to go through the village of Pedda Devada in Bichkunda mandal. The officials said that the road construction work in the mandal had completed but the bridge construction was delayed.
As the bridge works were delayed, they erected a temporary bridge with pipe and gravel above the stream. Traffic was flowing from this road but the bridge once again collapsed due to heavy rains on Monday.
This caused the traffic to stop along the road. The motorists are angry with the authorities for not completing the bridge work on time and unnecessarily putting the people in trouble.
