Heavy rush at banks as Aasara pensioners turn up to draw money in Khammam
Khammam: The banks on Wednesday witnessed heavy rush here in the district with the Aasara pensioners reaching banks to draw the money from their accounts.
The process of crediting enhanced Aasara pensions into the bank accounts of beneficiaries has begun on Monday much to the delight of nearly three lakh beneficiaries in erstwhile Khammam district.
The pension amounts were credited into postal and bank acounts on Monday, informed Kothagudem DRDA Project Director P Jagath Kumar Reddy.
The beneficiaries could withdraw the amounts from Wednesday onwards, he told The Hans India, adding that there were nearly 1.11 lakh beneficiaries in Bhadradri-Kothagudem and an amount Rs 22.04 crore would be credited into the beneficiaries accounts monthly.
Khammam DRDA Project Director Indumathi informed that there were about 1.90 lakh beneficiaries of the scheme in Khammam as per revised statistics. The crediting of pension amounts would be completed by Tuesday evening and the beneficiaries could withdraw the amount at any time as per their convenience, she added.
Meanwhile, a pensioner Nagesh expressed his happiness after drawing the pension amount and stated that his family was dependent on the money.
