Update: 2019-05-24 16:00 IST

The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) on Wednesday paid the three months' salaries of the home guard which were pending for the past four months.

According to the reports, about 100 home guards in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts were awaiting their salaries and non-payment of bills for hire vehicle drivers for over a year.

"The home guards were going through a tough time due to non-payment of salaries and most of them were forced to pawn their jewellery to meet the household expenses," said M Dayanand, general secretary, Telangana Auto and Motor Welfare Union.

"As we received some budget for home guards, their salaries were paid and the remaining one month salary will also be paid soon," said joint transport commissioner, C Ramesh.

Each home guard in the state is paid Rs 20,000 every month.
