Hut dwellers stage protest for house right in Nizamabad
Nizamabad: All India Farmers Union State unit leader Velpur Bhumaiah have demanded that government should give the houses (Patta ) right to the inhabitants who are living in huts in Borgam (P) Sravakinagar under the 5th Division of the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation of Mopal mandal.
On Monday, the dwellers staged a dharna in front of the RDO office demanding the ownership of the land on which they live. The memorandum was submitted to RDO Superintendent Madame Suvarna on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Velpur Bhumaiah said the poor people have been living on the land for the past 19 years. With the expansion of the city of Nizamabad, there is a risk that these lands will grow in value in future and the poor will be evictd.
Velpur Bhumaiah demanded that the poor people living in huts on the D-57 sub-canal be given a double bedroom house. Officials conducted the survey two years ago. Some were given house pattas. However, 15 families Pattas have received house patta till now.
CPI (M-L) New Democracy leaders Jellaramurali, Minayaiah, Lakshmi Narasimha, Lakshmi, Gayatri, Fatima, Zakia, Ellava, Ravi, Revathi, Shiva and Surya joined the protest.
