Huzurabad artist wins international caricature award
Huzurabad: Electrician-turned-cartoonist Konda Ravi Prasad won bronze medal and a prize money of 600 US dollars at the International Caricature Competition held in China.
K Ravi Prasad, resident of Chelpur village of Huzurabad mandal, is an electrician by profession but has a strong passion for drawing since his childhood and continued drawing caricatures of various famous personalities and cartoons on different issues.
He won several national and international awards for his excellent work.
Cultural and Multimedia International Association, China, in association with Dongava Temple Painting and Calligraphy Institute, China had organised international caricature competitions.
Ravi Prasad has submitted a caricature of famous philosopher Lavogi to the competitions, which won bronze medal and cash prize.
The organisers informed K Ravi Prasad that they will keep the master piece in Museum and will exhibit it on various international platforms.
Telangana Cartoonist Welfare Association president Zakeer and secretary Rajamouli congratulated Ravi Prasad for his achievement and said that it is an honour to India and especially for the newly formed Telangana State as Prasad won the medal at International caricature competition in which many famous artistes from across the world had participated.
Speaking to The Hans India, K Ravi Prasad said there is no encouragement from the government for the cartoonists and artists.
If the government gives the same encouragement as it is giving to film actors and sports persons, many number of cartoonists and artistes, who are dependent only on this profession, will do wonders and will try their level best to get name and fame to the Telangana State. He urged the State government to recognise them and their efforts.
