Huzurnagar bypoll: 119 throw their hats in the ring

Huzurnagar (Suryapet): Huzurnagar town wore a festive look with drumbeats, dances, rallies during the filing of nominations for Huzurnagar bypoll where reportedly 119 persons, including leaders from main parties and independents, filed their papers on last day, i.e., Monday.

Congress candidate Padmavathi along with her proposals submitted her nomination papers to the returning officer at MRO office in Huzurnagar. Similarly, Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate Shanampudi Saidi Reddy along with Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, MLAs Mallaiah Yadav, Bhaskar Rao and Chirumarthi Lingaiah, filed his papers. Also, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Rama Rao along with party State president Laxman and party local leaders, filed his nomination papers.

Telugu Desam candidate Chava Kiranmai along with party State president and other leaders filed her nomination, whereas Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate P Shekar submitted his nomination papers to the returning officer.

All the main party candidates and their State leaders, speaking to the media, explained their strengths and their contenders' weaknesses. All the candidates of main parties exuded confidence that they were going to win the election with record majorities.

Meanwhile, taking Huzurnagar bypoll as a stage for their issues, several persons individually and on behalf of organisations elevating their problems, filed their nominations as independent candidates. An 85-year-old woman Amaravadi Laxmi Narsamma of Huzurnagar mandal, a tribal from Gurrampodu village of Mattapalli mandal and people of Vellatur of Chintalapalem mandal expressing their concern over not issuing pattadaar passbooks to their lands have thrown their hats in poll ring.

Similarly, a few persons on behalf of Sarpanches Forum against joint cheque power to Sarpanches and vice- Sarpanches and for not sanctioning funds to gram panchayats filed their nominations to bring their issues to the notice of the State government and people of the State for necessary action.

Meanwhile, the filing of more than 100 nominations is going to become a headache for main parties, particularly the ruling TRS and the opposition Congress.If all the candidates filed nominations failed to withdraw their papers, election akin to Nizamabad MP seat would be witnessed.

Meanwhile, the district police have made elaborate security arrangements in and around Huzurnagar town to avoid any untoward incidents during the last day of filing of nominations in Huzurnagar town.
