Hyderabad: 280 PG medicos at Osmania Medical College to be tested as 3 more get coronavirus
Following three new coronavirus cases among PG medical students of Osmania Medical College, the authorities have decided to conduct tests on all 280 students. With the fresh cases reported on Monday, the total number of medicos infected with coronavirus touched 7.
As all the infected medicos were inmates of Osmania Medical College hostel, the authorities took the decision to hold the tests. Samples of all the students residing in hostels on the college campus will be collected and sent for testing. The authorities said that they are going to hold the tests on all the 280 students as they did not want to take any chances. There are nearly 100 male and 180 female medicos. The testing process will be completed in two days.
A senior official said that even though they did not have any coronavirus symptoms, the tests will be conducted. If any of them tests positive for the virus, they will be sent to quarantine, he added.
All the medicos who tested positive for coronavirus are undergoing treatment at King Koti and Gandhi Hospital. Their condition is said to be stable. On the other hand, the Healthcare and civic workers swung into action and disinfected the hostel buildings. Meanwhile, the college authorities declared the hostels as containment zones.
The state on Monday reported 94 new cases and six deaths. While the total number of cases touched 2,792, total deaths were at 88.
