Hyderabad: Three post-graduate (PG) students of Osmania Medical College have tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday. Out of the three is a first-year student pursuing post-graduation in gynaecology department and was also on medical duty at Government Maternity hospital in Petlaburj. She also shares a room with two others whose test results are awaited.

And the other two students are in the final year of post-graduation from general surgery and orthopaedics. The Health authorities have begun to trace all the contacts of these three students and samples of some of them have been sent for testing. All three students were shifted to Gandhi Hospital and King Koti hospital. The officials later disinfected their rooms and the hostel building.

The incident triggered panic among the students who moved closely with the patients. A student said that many of them move around together, preparing for upcoming exams, eating in mess together. The test reports will clearly show now how many of them have contracted the virus, she added.

Meanwhile, many of the students are demanding to postpone their exams which are scheduled to be held in June last week. The students said that even if one person in the exam hall is infected with the virus, many of them will be scared and could not concentrate on the exams.
