Hyderabad: 50,000 2-BHK flats to be handed over in August

Telangana government is contemplating to hand over 50,000 double bedroom houses to the beneficiaries in the city from August

Hyderabad: With 80 per cent of the works getting completed at many sites, the Telangana government is contemplating to hand over 50,000 double bedroom houses to the beneficiaries in the city from August.

Minister KT Rama Rao along with the city Ministers T Srinivas Yadav, Ch Malla Reddy and Md Mahamood Ali had a review meeting on the status of double bedroom housing program in Hyderabad. The minister said that the state government was aiming to construct one lakh double bedroom houses for the poor in Hyderabad city.

"Government will hand over 50,000 double bedroom houses to the beneficiaries in ensuing August. The works are going in a speedy manner and all the houses will be ready to occupy by Dussehra. Speed up the construction of double bedroom dignity houses in Hyderabad," said Rama Rao. Stating that 80 percent of construction works were completed at various sites in the city the minister said that a few houses were already handed over to the beneficiaries at some places.

The working agencies informed the ministers that despite the lockdown, the construction works were going at a good pace. The agencies said that there were a few problems pertaining to steel, cement, and sand. KTR assured the agencies that their problems would be solved soon. He asked the officials of municipal administration and housing departments to call for a special meeting with the working agencies to resolve their problems.

The minister asked the officials to focus on the infrastructure such as power supply and water supply to the completed houses. The completed houses should be handed over to the GHMC officials, he said.

Housing Minister V Prashanth Reddy said that a lion's share of houses under the double bedroom programme was being constructed in the city. He said complete assistance would be provided to the GHMC from Housing department officials.

After the meeting, Srinivas Yadav said that instructions were given to officials to complete the construction of 50,000 houses by August and hand them over to the beneficiaries in GHMC limits. Yadav said that so far houses were allotted to about 10,000 beneficiaries in the city.
