Hyderabad: 6 policemen suspended for their role in fuel theft

Rachakonda Commissioner of Police, Mahesh Bhagwat on Saturday suspended six policemen for connivance with offenders of petrol and diesel theft. Instead of tracing the offenders, the suspended policemen is learned to have taken a bribe from them and encouraged to steal fuel.

On May 18, the Rachakonda police caught the offenders while stealing diesel from the fuel tankers at Cherlapally under Medipally police station limits. On being questioned, the accused told the police that they have greased the palms of three constables, one SB constable, one SOT inspector and a head constable to remain tight-lipped over their activities.

They also told the police that they were into the business for the past several years and the suspended policemen were aware of their theft. Suspending the policemen, the CP also said that they suspect the role of more policemen in the case and action would be taken against them soon.

Around 40 fuel theft cases were registered at several places in Cherlapally, Medipally and Chengicherla.
