Hyderabad: ABVP demands 1,000 crore for Osmania University
Osmania University: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) took out a rally from Arts College here on Friday, demanding that the state government allocate Rs 1,000 crore towards development of Osmania University.
ABVP Greater Hyderabad Secretary P Srihari, state joint secretary Suman Shankar and OU President Ravindranath criticised that the state government was neglecting the education sector. "The administration has gone haywire with no vice-chancellor for the past eight months. Vice chancellors should be appointed for universities in Telangana immediately. Teaching and non-teaching posts should be filled immediately to provide quality education to students. Self finance courses should be regularized. Scholarships should be increased to Rs 3,000. Steps should be taken to protect the university lands," they said.
ABVP leaders and activists Yella Swamy, Ramesh, Anji, Shiva, Mahesh, Krishna Kishore, Goutham, Rajesh, Sandhya, Vinod and others were present.
