Hyderabad: Administration can be toned up by Collectors only says KCR
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday said that State government is of the firm opinion that administration can be streamlined by strengthening the institution of Collectors and the civil service officials should have long-term strategies and good thinking capacity.
During the post-lunch session in the Collectors' Conference, the chief minister said the officials should have awareness on all the issues. "The young officers, who are working as Collectors now, will one day become Secretaries and Commissioners and serve in various capacities.
Hence, they should be sent to other States and countries where best practices are followed. Study and learn the best methods and policies and implement the same in Telangana State," he stated. The chief minister said the government has empowered Collectors through new Municipal and Panchayat Raj Act introduced recently in the State.
It is also the responsibility of the Collectors to rectify the revenue records, some of which are not in a proper shape. The revenue administration is with the Collectors.
The newly appointed Additional Collectors will undergo training soon in Hyderabad to discharge their duties effectively in the district, he said, adding that people especially women, who come to the towns on various works are put to lot of suffering due to lack of toilets.
Public toilets are a must in every town. For this, utilise the government office premises and lands. Construction of vegetable and non-vegetable markets in all the towns is also the government's priority, the chief minister said.
