Hyderabad: Advocates JAC condemns Anjani's remark

Hyderabad: The Advocates Telangana State Joint Action Committee against CAA-NPR-NRC condemned the statements of Commissioner of Police Hyderabad, Anjani Kumar in which he stated that he would not allow 'Shaheen Bagh' like protest in Hyderabad, while terming it as 'negative' act.

TS-JAC convener Mohammed Wali-ur-Rahman and other members requested Telangana State Police to adhere to the 'principles of law and justice' and found that police should not curtail the anti-CAA protesters as it is their fundamental right to protest.

While welcoming peaceful protests across the city, Advocate JAC welcomed every law abiding citizen of Telangana to join and support every protest against injustice and draconian laws. However, they asked the organisers to remain cautious and to ensure these protests remain peaceful.

"The JAC welcomes orders of High Court of Madras permitting anti-CAA protests. The Rajasthan High Court has also passed similar orders considering citizen's right to protest against CAA legislation. Further the Bombay High Court permitted, while Karnataka High court in their orders had quashed imposition of Section 144 Cr PC and accorded permission to anti-CAA protest," the convenor pointed out. "The Telangana Police may please to adhere that our constitution mandates rule of law and not rule of majority. The Advocates JAC also welcomes decision of Telangana Government becoming 7th state intend to pass resolution in state legislative assembly recommending central government to repeal Citizenship Amendment Act as unconstitutional and against secular ethos of our nation. The Advocates JAC is always on forward path and determined and committed to extent all necessary free legal aid and lawful guidance to all the anti-CAA, NRC, NPR peaceful protesters. Our paramount object to ensure that rule of law shall prevail," the JAC added.

Later, The Advocate TS-JAC announced maximum support to the protest scheduled to be held in coming days at Quli Qutub Shah Stadium at Petla Burj and Eid GahBilali in Masab Tank by different organisations.
