Hyderabad: After Abdullapurmet incident, women tahsildars asked to work with pepper sprays

After the Abdullapurmet incident which has sent shockwaves among the people across the state particularly the Tahsildars, they were asked to carry pepper sprays to the workplace to defend themselves in case of any unexpected attacks.

Around 400 women tahsildars working after the Abdullapurmet incident which has sent shockwaves among the people across the state particularly the Tahsildars in the state out of the total 1000. They tahsildars were also advised to be more cautious and carry pepper sprays.

On November 4, a woman tehsildar Vijaya Reddy was set on fire by one K Suresh who walked into her office with a petrol can. However, after the incident, the visitors are restricted to carry bags inside the offices if they wanted to meet tahsildars, said S Ramulu, Telangana Tahsildar's Association adding that the people will be screened now and are allowed inside with only petitions in their hands.

Recently, a man in Sircilla was found carrying a bottle of petrol when he came to meet the tahsildar. When confronted, he said that he always carried the petrol from the town while on his way home.

Besides, the pepper sprays, the tahsildars are also planning to install CCTV cameras at the office who keep an eye on the people who frequently visit the office.
