Hyderabad: Appoint VCs to State varsities within 3 weeks, says KCR

• He gives clear instructions that the entire process should be completed within next 2 to 3 weeks

• Currently, all universities in Telangana are being run by the senior IAS officials as in-charge VCs

Hyderabad: At last, Telangana State government initiated the official process of the appointment of Vice-Chancellors to all universities pending for the last three years.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday instructed the officials concerned to speed up appointing VCs of various universities. Prior to that, the CM asked the officials to obtain names from the Search Committee and appoint members of the Executive Council immediately. KCR said this will expedite the process of appointing VCs. He gave clear instructions that the entire process should be completed within next 2 to 3 weeks.

Currently, all universities in Telangana are being run by the senior IAS officials as in-charge VCs. The State government put on hold the appointment of fulltime VCs due to various reasons. The Search Committee formed to suggest the names of suitable persons as VCs in nine Telangana Universities was constituted in September last year. The committee will suggest a panel of three names as VCs to the Chief Minister and the latter will finalise the list of the VC. It is learnt that the aspirants for VC posts were many and the finalisation of the panel names will consume more time.
