Hyderabad: Arrested Tahsildar's husband jumps to death
Hyderabad: Depressed over his Tahsildar wife's arrest on bribery charge, her husband committed suicide by jumping off an apartment in Chikkadpally on Wednesday. Shaikpet Tahsildar Ch. Sujatha was embroiled in a bribery case and was later arrested by the ACB and was sent to prison.
According to sources, after Sujatha's arrest, Ajay Kumar, Professor of Political Science at Osmania University, was disturbed and was unable to bear the humiliation as he was also questioned by ACB officials regarding the money which was unearthed from their residence.
According to Chikkadpally police, Ajay Kumar was staying with his sister at Chikkadpally since his wife was arrested and the preliminary investigations revealed that he was really disturbed by the twist and turn of events in his life and was unable to cope with the pressure.
Though the exact reason for his suicide is not yet known as no suicide note was recovered from the scene of offence, but it's believed that he was under pressure and he took the extreme step as he went to the terrace of his sister's apartment and jumped off in the early morning, said the police. His body was to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem and the matter is being investigated.
