Hyderabad: Baby delivered by coronavirus patient tests negative

The baby boy who was delivered by the coronavirus infected woman tested negative on Friday, said the health authorities adding that the condition of the baby is stable.

The Gandhi Hospital doctors on Thursday achieved a unique feat when they successfully held the caesarian section on the coronavirus positive pregnant woman, who is a resident of Hyderabad.

Health minister Eatala Rajender appreciated the efforts of the Gandhi Hospital doctors for saving the woman and the infant. He said that he was very pleased to know that the coronavirus did not pass to the baby from mother. The minister also congratulated the staff for taking good care of the mother and the infant," the minister said.

The team of doctors who performed the caesarean section on the woman were Head, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Gandhi Hospital, Dr Mahalaxmi and supported by Dr Sangeetha, Dr Anitha, Dr Prasanna Laxmi, Dr Apurva, Dr Mrunalini, Dr Srilaxmi and Dr Ashwini.
