Hyderabad: Central team studies Covid support services in city
Hyderabad: With Telangana witnessing spike in the number of cases, averaging over 100 per day, a team of higher officials from central government, who are part of 'Corona support activities' on Wednesday held meeting with GHMC officials to take stock of the situation. Later, they visited a quarantine facility at Sarojini Hospital and also a containment zone in Jiyaguda.
The team led by Joint Secretary Sanjay Jaju held a review meeting with GHMC Commissioner D S Lokesh Kumar, Hyderabad District Collector Sweta Mohanty, GHMC Additional Commissioner B Santosh, CCP Devender Reddy and COVID-19 control room OSD Anuradha at GHMC head office.
While referring to the relaxation of lockdown in City, the team expressed concern that by the end of July the situation can turn worse given the existing scenario. During the discussion, the team brought to the knowledge of GHMC and other officials, as to how the major cities including Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai have been dealing with situation by engaging private hospitals, which account for discovering more than 70 per cent of the positive cases so far. While on the other hand, the visiting team was informed about the methods being adopted by GHMC in dealing with positive cases, tracing of contacts, facilities available for testing suspected cases, number of hospitals, home quarantine, home isolation and containment procedure.
Sanjay Jaju called upon the officials to create a Whatsapp group with officials including GHMC Commissioner, Collectors of four districts, health officials and central government officials like him for better coordination.
