Hyderabad: Chest Hospital head nurse dies of Coronavirus
Hyderabad: The Chest Hospital head nurse Victoria Jayamani who was undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital after testing Covid positive, died on Friday.
She was set to retire on June 30. Jayamani tested positive 20 days ago and was in Chest Hospital till last week. After her condition deteriorated she was shifted to Gandhi Hospital.
Her husband also tested positive and is under home isolation. The news of her death was shared in various groups where it was alleged that the Chest Hospital superintendent posted her in Covid duties though she was not willing.
Reacting to the news, Chest Hospital Superintendent Dr Mahaboob Khan said that it was untrue. She barely worked for a day there and nursing duties are not given by the Superintendent.
He said that they have initiated the process to get Rs 50 lakh life insurance cover for her family as the Centre had insured Rs 50 lakh each to any of the frontline healthcare workers who died while on Covid duties.
Also, Covid did not spare administration staff working in the Superintendent office in Gandhi Hospital. A senior assistant and typist and another employee tested positive. Also eight family members of them also tested positive.
Meanwhile, Telangana Junior Doctors Association have appealed to Health Minister Eatala Rajender to remove Corona isolation ward from Osmania General Hospital as non-Covid patients are prone to cross infection and also the isolation ward is near to casualty, out-patient and AMC wards of non-Covid patients.
