Hyderabad: Chorus of anti-CAB protest echoes city
Hyderabad: Following Friday prayers, thousands of Muslims took part in peaceful protests which were organised across the city against the passage of Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB)-2019 in the Parliament.
Led by different organisations including Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind, Students Islamic Organisation (SIO), Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), Wahdat-e-Islami and some other groups at various locations, youth in large numbers have taken out march amidst slogans demanding cancellation of bill. While some others made their statement by wearing black badges during the Friday prayers.
Besides, protests were organised at Darulshifa, Saidabad, Amberpet, Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki, Balanagar, Dabeerpura, Mallepally, Jubilee Hills, New Bowenpally, Chandrayangutta and some other areas.
Former MLC and president of Jamiat, Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed led a massive protest rally at Amberpet, in which youth were seen holding placards along with Indian tricolor flags. A rally against CAB was led by Maulana Mohammed Naseeruddin, president of Wahdat-e-Islami, Telangana at Akbarbagh in Saidabad.
MBT spokesperson Amjedullah Khan has participated in the protest, which was organised at Mehdipatnam by SIO. The stir was led by its State president Talha Faiyazuddin. The leaders called the legislation unconstitutional and said that the government doesn't have any sympathy with religiously persecuted immigrants.
The Central government intends to advance its communal agenda, they alleged. The leaders said bringing a legislation which discriminates a particular community on the basis of religion is against the spirit of Constitution and violates Article 14 of the Constitution.
They alleged that the Centre has shown its true colour of fascist Hindutva and is openly pursing policies to establish a Hindu Rashtra. They urged the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind to reject the CAB in total.
