Hyderabad: As soon as the Covid-19 was declared a global pandemic and social distancing became a norm, the city-based start-ups started launching innovative technologies to protect humans from getting infected by the deadly coronavirus. A sanitisation pillar is one amongst such innovations in the last three months.

The cost-effective sanitisation pillar is developed by a city-based start-up, Possibillion Technologies, for those who could not afford to install sanitisation tunnel or sanitisation tent in their premises.

Speaking to The Hans India, Ayyappa Nagubandi, the founder of Possibillion Technologies, said, "The height of the pillar is 6ft and occupies a minimal space of one sqft. The sanitisation pillar works on a simple mechanism of disinfectant spraying. There disinfectant bottles or units are connected to nozzles with tubes and pumping mechanism. The three nozzles are fitted at top, middle and bottom which are connected to a button. By switching on the button, the pumping mechanism starts spraying disinfectant through all the three nozzles. The person using the sanitisation pillar can disinfect himself thoroughly by turning around."

The pillar can be installed in places like shops, restaurants, offices and even small apartments.

"As soon as the pandemic was announced in March, we were one of the first start-ups to create a sanitisation tent. This pillar is a modified version of the sanitisation tent and has been launched two weeks back. We are selling at a retail price of Rs 21,000 and have already successfully executed two orders, one to a shop and one to a corporate office. We have also developed face shields for the protection of forehead and eyes of the healthcare workers," adds Ayyappa.

"Not many are aware about this product. We faced many difficulties and raw materials was one of them. However, later we decided to use pipes that were easily available as an alternative," concludes Ayyappa.
