Hyderabad: CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka demands inquiry into maize scam

Hyderabad: Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday demanded the government to conduct vigilance inquiry into the huge scam in Maize.

Participating in the debate in the Assembly on the budget, he said that thousands of tons of Maize had been sold in the open market by Poultry Federation leaders, which was meant for the poultry farmers. He said that in order to provide feed to chicks in the poultry farms, the government has allocated Maize at a cost of Rs 18,000 per ton to Poultry Federation and asked it to distribute the grain to farmers. However, the Federation leaders have sold the subsidy Maize at a cost of Rs 27,000 per ton in the open market and made huge sums of money. He said that a leader of the Federation, Rami Reddy, has sold 1.84 lakh tons of Maize in open market.

Owner of Raja Rajeswara Hatcheries has sold about 95,000 tons in open market and Venkateswara Hatcheries have sold about 60,000 tons. He said that he has a list of the Federation leaders, who indulged in irregularities, and the government should conduct an inquiry.

Vikramarka said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has misled the house in the case of Mission Bhagiratha (MB). He said that after their suspension from the House on Saturday, the Chief Minister stated that all the owners of the houses have put signatures on the certificates stating that taps have been fixed under MB scheme.
